- Agree primary motivators for CSR within your organisation
- Agree, document and publicise Vision and Milestones for achieving your objectives
- Agree and document how to measure progress toward your Vision
- Document policy(s) that spell out your organisation's commitment and how it can be realised
- Review other company policies, goals and strategies against your CSR policy and identify inconsistencies
- Agree a plan for achieving consistency throughout your organisation's operations.
Organisation and Processes
- Identify key people, roles and responsibilities at all levels (vertical) and representing all sections (horizontal) of your organisation.
- Agree reporting lines for accountability
- Define internal processes and procedures to achieve your objectives
- Establish communication channels (internal and external) for publicising your achievements
Operating a CSR Programme
Implementation
- Establish links with other organisations to help you implement your strategy (e.g. government agencies or charities). You may even decide to establish new agencies of your own.
- Agree how all partners will work together and share responsibilities
- Set up all the processes and procedures needed for day to day operations
Audit and Evaluation
- Formally audit your CSR programme and report to the Board
- Compare the results against your vision and objectives
- Decide what additional changes need to be put in place
